Floral Carpet in Brussels, Belgium…!

Floral Carpet in Brussels, Belgium…made from begonias…!
Officially, the first “carpet” of flowers was created in 1971 on the Grand Place by E. Stautemans. He was born in Zottegem and graduated from Ghent Horticultural College.
The carpet is typically 77 x 24 meters…but he created one in Sint-Pietersplein, Ghent that was 164 x 42 meters. It took him many years of planning to produce these magnificent carpets.

Close up of the Floral CarpetIsn't this beutiful? I wouldn't want to be the one planting this...!Begonias are "planted" directly on the bricks

Go out and buy a “few” begonias and make your own carpet…or something…!!!
Happy Spring…!!!
